Youths warn politicians againts fake promises
Candidates vying for various positions in the forthcoming elections were yesterday warned against making unrealistic promises to the electorate, as they go about seeking the peoples’ support.
The Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association through its president, Alhaji Babatunde Salau, gave the warning during a town hall meeting with candidates of various political parties in Ilorin emirate comprising of five local governments.
The group urged the candidates to channel resources appropriately for the development of constituencies and the state in general if elected next month.
The president said the meeting was targeted at providing a platform for candidates to highlight their programmes and to sensitize youths. He urged youths to shun thuggery and hooliganism.
“We also want candidates to tell the people their programmes and how they intend to bring their parties’ manifestos to reality,” he said.
